Thinking of Relocating to the San Fernando Valley?

If you are thinking of relocating to or within the San Fernando Valley, Michael Greenwald is your real estate resource. The San Fernando Valley, which covers 250 square miles, is located among the Santa Monica, Santa Susana, and San Gabriel Mountain ranges, just 21 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Community
In spite of its size, the San Fernando Valley is known for a strong, cohesive community. The Valley's population averages between 1 and 1.5 million people which, if the Valley itself was one city, would probably rank among the top ten largest cities in U.S. Much of the Valley, however, is still within the city limits of Los Angeles and is composed of numerous smaller cities. With a population of only 24,000, for example, the city of San Fernando itself is one of the older cities in the area, with brick accents gracing its historic buildings.

Economy
Strategically located on the Pacific Rim, the Valley is known for its workforce in the industries of technology and entertainment. In fact, about half of the residents here hold professional or managerial positions. And while the commute to Los Angeles may be accomplished via Interstate 5 and 210, and Highway 118, 60% of the Valley's residents work in the Valley itself. With entertainment giants MCA/Universal, WArner Bros. and The Disney Co. in the area, some figures indicate that upwards of 70% of entertainment-related companies may be located in the Valley.

Education
The San Fernando Valley's residents are among the best educated in nation, and hosts one of the largest school districts in the nation with close to 200,000 students. Here you will find 128 public elementary schools, 17 public high schools, 3 community colleges, and 1 public university.

Homes
Many of the Valley's residents own single-family houses, most of which were constructed prior to the 1960's, with many newly constructed and remodeled homes in the higher-end areas of Encino, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, and Woodland Hills. The homes in the estate areas north of Ventura Boulevard and in the hills south of Ventura Boulevard sell between $700,000 and up to $2 million.
